Our Expertise

AAE delivers bespoke, specialist and regionally focused legal advice throughout the Sultanate. We are one of very few firms to offer both English and local law capabilities, in Arabic and English. Our lawyers in Muscat have legal expertise matched by real-world knowledge of the particular industries our clients operate in.

We can assist with all aspects of Omani company set-up and registration including shareholders’ agreements, foreign capital investment requirements, US/Oman Free Trade Agreement and free zone requirements. Our team works with our clients to assist them each step of the process including setting up of bank accounts, Omanisation requirements, visas and adding business activities. Our team advises on all local law aspects of banking and finance in the Sultanate of Oman including corporate financings, Islamic financing, infrastructure and project finance, real estate finance and acquisition finance as well as the form and registration of Omani law security documentation. In addition, we regularly provide Omani legal opinions on banking transactions and advise on the impact of sanctions in the Sultanate of Oman, derivatives and Omani regulatory compliance matters for local and international banks and financial institutions.

We regularly advise our clients on labour and employment issues, including standard form employment contracts, disciplinary issues, conflicts of interest policies (both internal and external), code of conduct and HR manuals. We also create on-line courses for employees such as an annual employee declaration to ensure all employees are update with the relevant policy and complete a short multiple choice quiz which the employee is required to pass to complete the declaration.

We use this detailed knowledge to inform our advice to our clients. We can help you resolve any public tender issues, including the formation and building of bidding consortia, protection of confidential information, anti-trust matters, evaluations, specific rules around framework agreements, concession agreements and complex PPP projects.

Amur has over 15 years of litigation and dispute resolution experience, appearing before the Omani courts in relation to complex and high value litigation matters. He has represented domestic and international companies, government entities and private individuals on a wide range of litigious matters, regulatory proceedings and administrative law claims. In addition, he has experience of all types of alternative dispute resolution including structured settlement discussions, arbitration, mediation and expert determinations.

Dr Amur Al Rashdi

Ali’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial work with a particular focus on joint ventures and government liaison. He has significant experience in labour and employment issues and regularly liaises with the Ministry of Labour on such issues and advises on disciplinary issues as well as drafting standard form employment contract, conflicts of interest policies (both internal and external), code of conduct and HR manuals. Ali is qualified as a lawyer in the Sultanate of Oman and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2016.

Faris is the Head of the Litigation department in AAE. He has over 14 years’ experience in judicial work advising on criminal, commercial, administrative and civil cases as well as labour and sharia law. Faris represents Omani and international clients through all stages of disputes including drafting statements of claim and defences and follow up through to enforcement, at all levels of courts in Oman. Faris practice focuses on arbitration and cross-border litigation. Faris advises clients on insurance disputes and advises on the internal regulation, representing them before the judicial authorities, Faris has right of audience before Court of Appeal. Faris has been involved in providing ad hoc advices to clients as well under Omani law and is familiar with the practice and Omani court processes

She has extensive experience of managing the complete process from the term sheet to drawdown. She has advised on banking regulatory issues, sanctions and ISDA documentation. In addition, she advises on a wide range of commercial contracts including agency and distribution agreements and standard form supply of goods and/or services agreement as well as real estate and construction matters. She is an English qualified solicitor.
